During the next four years, the American and Indian governments worked to improve ties in education, agriculture, trade, high-technology, clean energy, civil space, and military-to-military relations. On July 18, 2005, President Bush welcomed India’s new Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, to the White House. Both leaders declared their intention to forge a new era in relations and “establish a global partnership” between their two countries. Since that time, the United States and India have established a bilateral relationship that is closer than ever before.
